William Sampson was a bangalore expert in Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion Rangers.
He landed at Omaha Beach on June 6th, 1944. He was one of just a few survivors of Lt. Briggs's landing craft. He managed to reach the Dog 1 Exit next to Captain Miller. He placed bangalore torpedos over the shingle. It blew up and destroyed the wire, clearing the way for Miller and his men. He then proceeded to Vierville. His fate is unknown.
