Captain Jennings was a minor character who was mentioned in the film Saving Private Ryan as being the officer selected to be in charge of the Ramelle Paratroopers, during World War Two, shortly after D-day.
Captain Jennings dropped into Normandy on June 6, 1944, part of Operation Overlord, with the 101st Airborne. A couple of days after the jump, a Colonel decided to make Jennings commander of a group of Paratroopers to head on and defend the town of Ramelle. He was able to get the men into the city and drive out the Germans. Some time later, Ramelle was bombed by 88s, causing him to be killed by one of the shell explosions, passing his command on to Corporal Henderson. He was never seen in the movie.
