Isaac was assigned to Company C, led by Captain John H. Miller. On D-Day, June 6th, 1944, Isaac landed on Omaha Beach with Charlie Company, 2nd Rangers Battalion. The landing craft that he and his comrades were riding aboard came under heavy fire from the German MG-42s in the Coastal Bunkers. While clambering to get out, Isaac was killed by machine gunfire, unable to escape by going over the side as Captain Miller ordered.
